How to Factory Reset Your Device?

A factory reset erases all personal data, apps, and settings from your device. This is an important step before trading in your device.

⚠ Important: A factory reset permanently deletes all data from your device. Back up your important files before starting!

Android Phone

Steps for Android (Standard)

  1. Open the Settings app
  2. Scroll down and tap System (or General management on Samsung)
  3. Tap Reset options or Reset
  4. Select Erase all data (factory reset)
  5. Read the warning and tap Reset phone
  6. Enter your PIN, password, or pattern to confirm
  7. Tap Erase everything

Note: The exact menu options may vary depending on your Android version and manufacturer (Samsung, Huawei, Xiaomi, etc.). Look for terms like "Reset", "Backup and reset", or "Restore".

Remove your Google Account

After or before the factory reset:

  1. Go to SettingsAccounts
  2. Tap on your Google account
  3. Tap Remove account

iPhone

Steps for iPhone (iOS 15 or newer)

  1. Open the Settings app
  2. Tap General
  3. Scroll down and tap Transfer or Reset iPhone
  4. Tap Erase All Content and Settings
  5. Enter your Apple ID password if prompted
  6. Confirm by tapping Erase iPhone

Steps for older iOS versions (iOS 14 and earlier)

  1. Open the Settings app
  2. Tap General
  3. Scroll down and tap Reset
  4. Tap Erase All Content and Settings
  5. Enter your passcode
  6. Enter your Apple ID password
  7. Confirm by tapping Erase iPhone

Tip: Turn off "Find My iPhone" before trading in your phone. Go to Settings[Your Name]Find MyFind My iPhone and turn it off.

Android Tablet

Steps for Android Tablets

The process is identical to an Android phone:

  1. Open the Settings app
  2. Tap SystemReset options
  3. Select Erase all data (factory reset)
  4. Confirm and enter your PIN
  5. Tap Erase everything

Don't forget to remove your Google account before trading in the tablet.

iPad

Steps for iPad

The process is identical to an iPhone:

  1. Open the Settings app
  2. Tap General
  3. Tap Transfer or Reset iPad (or Reset on older versions)
  4. Tap Erase All Content and Settings
  5. Enter your Apple ID password
  6. Confirm by tapping Erase iPad

Smartwatch

Apple Watch

  1. Open the Settings app on your Apple Watch
  2. Tap GeneralReset
  3. Tap Erase All Content and Settings
  4. If you have a cellular plan, choose Keep Plan or Remove Plan
  5. Enter your password to confirm

Or unpair the watch via your iPhone:

  • Open the Watch app on your iPhone
  • Go to the My Watch tab
  • Tap your watch at the top of the screen
  • Tap the info icon (ⓘ)
  • Tap Unpair Apple Watch

Samsung Galaxy Watch

  1. Open Settings on your watch
  2. Tap General
  3. Tap Reset or Reset settings
  4. Tap Factory data reset
  5. Confirm with Erase all

Wear OS (Google, Fossil, etc.)

  1. Swipe down from the home screen to open quick settings
  2. Tap Settings (gear icon)
  3. Scroll down and tap System
  4. Tap Disconnect & reset
  5. Confirm with Done

Huawei Watch

  1. Open Settings on the watch
  2. Tap System
  3. Tap Disconnect or Reset
  4. Confirm to erase all data

Checklist Before Trade-In

  • ✓ Backed up important data
  • ✓ All accounts removed (Google, Apple ID, Samsung, etc.)
  • ✓ Factory reset performed
  • ✓ SIM card and memory card removed
  • ✓ "Find My Device" feature disabled (Apple/Android)
